The gesture of a bobcat, hunting low to the ground in the midst of the beautiful blue shadows of a winter wood, was the genesis for this piece. Capturing his beautiful fur markings and his intensity of gaze, while staying fresh and un-finicky in my brushwork, were my chief concerns. These small wild cats, with their quick, lithe movements, are always a wonderful source of inspiration.
